Chinese Buddhist academy marks 60th anniversary

Xinhua, September 20, 2016 Adjust font size:

A Chinese religious official on Tuesday called for quality and modern Buddhist education at a commemoration to mark the 60th anniversary of the Buddhist Academy of China.

Wang Zuoan, director of the State Administration for Religious Affairs, asked the academy to implement the Communist Party of China Central Committee' policies on religious work, saying that due attention should also be given to the advantages of traditional Buddhist education.

Wang called on more talents to be fostered by the academy to ensure Chinese Buddhists follow the path of a socialist society.

Founded in 1956, the academy has fostered more than 1,000 teaching personnel and cultivated a large number of talents for Buddhist associations, academies and temples. Endi
