Xinhua, September 16, 2016 Adjust font size:

All Stars Soccer club based in the Upper West Region of Ghana has won the 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League, with one game to spare.

The club, owned by the president of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, defeated fellow title chasers Aduana Stars 2-1 at home Wednesday to go top of the table with 51 points, followed by Aduana Stars with 48 points.

The two teams went into the penultimate league match with 48 points apiece but victory for All Stars has handed them the trophy due to their superior head-to-head record against Aduana Stars.

All Stars won the crown with 15 wins, six draws and eight defeats and has made history as the first club from the Northern and Upper Regions of Ghana to win the country's elite 16-club league.

The club will represent Ghana in the 2017 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League.

The final games of the season comes off next Sunday, September 18, 2016. Endit
