Which Barca will appear in Liga matchday 4?

Xinhua, September 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

The big question mark over FC Barcelona's trip to face Leganes in the game which opens matchday 4 of the Spanish Liga Santander is: 'which Barcelona will put in an appearance - The Barcelona that put seven goal past Celtic in midweek or the Barca which was beaten 2-1 at home to Alaves last Saturday?'

Barca coach Luis Enrique fielded his strongest side against Celtic, but with a tough game the following Wednesday at home to Atletico Madrid, he could be tempted to make changes at the weekend against another recently promoted side.

Leganes should not be taken lightly as they have already drawn at home to Atletico Madrid this season and the club has already shown its sense of humor by describing the Barca game as a 'possible trap.'

Meanwhile coach Asier Garitano is likely to play a five-man back line and pack the midfield looking to deny space as Alaves did so successfully.

Atletico Madrid look to be back to their best after wins in Eindhoven and Vigo, but face a possible banana skin at home to Sporting Gijon, who have started the season well and currently lie third in the table.

Atletico also face the dilemma over squad rotations ahead of their visit to the Camp Nou and after two draws from their opening three league games, Diego Simeone knows he cannot afford to drop any more early season points.

Real Madrid scored 13 goals in two league matches against Espanyol last season, but will probably face a much tougher task when they travel to Barcelona on Sunday.

Although Espanyol are so far without a win, they look to be a different side under coach Quique Sanchez Flores (a former Real Madrid player), who has toughened them up in defense.

Espanyol will be without the suspended Javi Fuego for the game in which Madrid's attacking midfielder, Marcos Asensio returns to the ground where he spent last season on loan.

Sevilla are currently second in the table, but won't relish their trip to Eibar's Ipurua Stadium. The Basque side are enjoying another positive start with six points from their three games.

Meanwhile Malaga need to improve their early season form but won't be relishing a trip to early season pace-setters Las Palmas, who were very unlucky to be beaten by two late goals in Sevilla last weekend.

Before Real Madrid's trip to face Espanyol, the drama on Sunday should be focused on Athletic Club Bilbao's San Mames Stadium where Valencia coach Pako Ayestaran's job is on the line after three defeats in the first three games of the season.

Valencia haven't been as bad as their results suggest, but another setback may be too much in that ever-demanding club.

Celta also look for their first points when they travel to face Osasuna, who will hope to build on a brave display away to Real Madrid, while Real Sociedad will hope that the Europa League will have left Villarreal with tired legs.

Finally Alaves can expect a packed house in the wake of their triumph in the Camp Nou Stadium for the visit of Deportivo la Coruna.

Last weekend's hero' Ibai Gomez is doubtful with a muscle injury, but Alaves have looked a solid outfit on their return to the top flight, while Deportivo look to be very much a work in progress following the sale of Lucas Perez. Endit
