Plant blast kills 1, injures 1 in southern Texas

A man was killed and another injured on Wednesday after a fiery tank explosion rocked Corpus Christi, a city in the southern part of the U.S. state of Texas.

The explosion occurred at a Haas-Anderson Construction site before dawn and it took firefighters about an hour to extinguish the fire, which was now contained to a tank area, according to ABC13.

The man who died was confirmed to be 53-year-old Jose de la Torre of Corpus Christi, according to the report. The injured has been sent to a hospital, but his condition was not clear.

The cause of the blast was under investigation. Endit
