7 killed, 50 injured in road accident in northern India

Xinhua, September 13, 2016 Adjust font size:

At least seven people were killed and 50 others injured in a major road accident in the northern Indian state of Haryana Tuesday, a senior police official said.

"The mishap took place when two canter, carrying some 60 people, collided head-on on a national highway in the state's Sirsa district in the morning," he said, on condition of anonymity.

Seven people died on the spot, while those injured have been admitted to a local hospital. The condition of some are said to be serious, he added.

A probe has been ordered into the incident, the official said. Eye-witnesses told cops that both the vehicles were travelling at high speed and the drivers lost control of the vehicles, leading to the mishap. Endit
