Negotiable market cap of China's stock markets edges up 0.9 pct

The negotiable market cap of the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock markets had increased to 38.4 trillion yuan (around 5.76 trillion U.S. dollars) by Friday's close, up 0.9 percent from a week earlier, data showed.

Total market capitalization of the two bourses hit 49.29 trillion yuan, an increase of 1 percent week on week, according to data from the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges.

The average stock price on the two markets was 10.38 yuan, rising 0.71 percent from one week earlier.

The Shanghai stock market has 1,127 listed firms, while 1,809 companies are listed on the Shenzhen stock market.

The benchmark Shanghai composite index fell 0.55 percent from one week earlier to end at 3,078.85 at Friday's close. The Shenzhen composite index edged up 0.81 percent to close at 10,762.79. Endi
