A young woman with a full facial beard over 15 cm long entered the iconic Guinness World Records Thursday when the organisation unveiled its latest selection of the most jaw-dropping world records.
Anti-bullying activist, body image activist and catwalk model Harnaam Kaur who lives in the English town of Slough in Berkshire, has a beard measuring as long as six inches (15.24 cm) in places.
Guinness World Records said Kaur overcame years of bullying "to take ownership of her appearance and achieve this record title."
She describes her place in the Guinness World Records book as "absolutely humbling" and hopes it will help her to impart her empowering message.
This year has been a huge year for Kaur, having become the first female with a beard to walk the runway at London Fashion Week in March.
Kaur suffers from a condition known as polycystic ovary syndrome which can cause excessive hair growth.
Another intriguing British new record revealed Thursday includes the longest domestic cat, measuring 1.183 meters long and brings the record title back to Britain following a six-year run between two record holders based in the United States.
A nine-year-old Llama called Caspa entered the Guinness Hall of Fame with the highest jump ever recorded by a llama. The animal, from the Welsh town of Porthmadog, has cleared a bat standing 1.13 meters, enough to be recorded as a world record by Guinness.
Guinness World Records is regarded as the global authority on record-breaking achievements. First published in 1955, the iconic annual Guinness World Records books have sold over 136 million copies in over 20 languages and in more than 100 countries. Endit
