The 2016 German Film Festival will be held in five Vietnamese cities on Sept. 8-25, a German institute in Vietnam said on Wednesday.

Eight selected films, which have been successful in cinemas around the world as well as at the Berlin Film Festival, will be screened free of charge in Hanoi on Sept. 8-16, in Ho Chi Minh City on Sept. 9-17, in Hai Phong on Sept. 13-25, in Hue on Sept. 15-25 and in Da Nang from Sept. 16-25, said the Goethe Institute.

The festival will also include a workshop with the participation of German director, screenwriter and film producer Norbert Lechner and young filmmakers in Ho Chi Minh City on Sept. 12.

He will present his award-winning film "Fortune Favors the Brave" together with the renowned Vietnamese actors who worked on this film in Germany.

Lechner, born in 1961 in Munich, founded the film production company 'Kevin Lee' in 1990 and has since produce several award winning children's films, including 'Toni Goldwascher'(2007) and 'Tom and Hacke'(2012). Endit
