"Star Trek Beyond" dominates Chinese box office

The U.S. science-fiction adventure film "Star Trek Beyond" topped the Chinese box office, earning 206 million yuan (30.9 million U.S. dollars) in its debut weekend, China Film News reported Tuesday.

"Ice Age: Collision Course" took the second place, making 112 million yuan last week. It has taken in about 400 million yuan since hitting screens on Aug. 23.

"Jason Bourne," starring Matt Damon, the latest chapter of Universal's enduring spy franchise, dropped to third place after one week of leading the box office. It has raked in 425 million yuan since its release on Aug. 23.

Domestic action comedy "Line Walker" was ranked the fourth, with 33 million yuan in sales last week, and a total 594 million yuan since hitting screens on Aug. 11.

Rounding out the top five was "Parasyte," a Japanese science-fiction thriller directed by Takashi Yamazaki, which has grossed 25 million yuan since Sept. 2. Endi
