Vietnamese airlines buy 40 Airbus aircrafts

Three Vietnam's carriers Tuesday signed deals on purchase of 40 Airbus aircrafts from France.

At a signing ceremony witnessed by Vietnamese President Tran Dai Quang and the visiting French President Francois Hollande, the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on consideration of buying 10 more Airbus A350-900 XWB jetliners.

Currently, Vietnam Airlines is using four A350 aircrafts among 14 ordered, which will be delivered one by one till mid-2019.

These aircrafts are used in Vietnam Airlines' international air routes from/to France's Paris, South Korea's Incheon, and China's Shanghai as well as in domestic routes between capital Hanoi and southern Ho Chi Minh City, said Vietnam Airlines.

Also at the ceremony, Vietnamese low-cost carrier Jetstar Pacific and Airbus formally inked a contract of buying 10 A320 CEO aircrafts.

According to the contract, the order will be delivered in 2017. The budget airline targets to develop its fleet to include 30 Airbus A320 aircrafts by 2020.

Meanwhile, Vietnam's other low-cost airline VietJet Air signed a deal to buy 20 Airbus planes worth some 2.39 billion U.S. dollars. Endit
