Blast kills father, daughter outside kindergarten in Thailand's Deep South

Xinhua, September 6, 2016 Adjust font size:

A father and his daughter were killed and several others injured in a blast outside a school in the turbulent Deep South of Thailand on Tuesday, police said.

The explosion occurred as Mayeng Wahba and Mitra Wahba were riding a motorcycle outside Daba Kindergarten in Takbai district of Narathiwat province, killing the father and his five-year-old daughter and injuring six others.

The injured included two policemen who were directing road traffic outside the school and four villagers who were inside a nearby shophouse.

The bomb had been hidden in a motorcycle parked in front of the shophouse opposite the school moments before it was detonated, the police said.

The police were investigating the scene of the blast while a bombing suspect is still at large.

Days earlier, a blast occurred on a railway between Hat Yai and Sugai Kolok in neighboring Pattani province, killing a train attendant and injuring a few others at the rear of the train. Endit
