Several bombings rocked key Syrian cities almost simultaneously Monday, killing at least 48 people, as Russia and the United States fail short of concluding negotiations on a cease-fire in Syria.
The first bombing happened in the central city of Homs at 7.14 a.m. local time (0414 GMT), when a booby-trapped car was detonated after being discovered by government soldiers at a checkpoint at the Bab Tadmur area.

LAGOS -- Police in Nigeria Monday said they have begun a search for 15 oil workers kidnapped last Friday in the oil-rich Rivers State.
State police spokesperson Nnamdi Omoni told Xinhua in the southern city of Port Harcourt that the police had mobilized their anti-kidnap unit and other special units for the operation.

KABUL -- An explosion rocked central Kabul late Monday night with unknown casualties, witnesses and sources said early Tuesday.
"A big explosion went off in Shar-e-Naw locality in central Kabul roughly at 11:15 p.m. Monday (local time). So far, we have no more details, but we will try to get more information," a security source told Xinhua. Endi
