Dalian beat Shandong 2-1 as Chinese Women's Soccer Super League resumes

Xinhua, September 4, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Chinese Women's Soccer Super League resumed Sunday after a three-month break for the national team's preparations for the Rio Olympic Games.

As the eye-catching match between Shanghai and Changchun ended up a scoreless tie, Dalian climbed to the top of the league standings after they beat Shandong 2-1.

Striker Wang Shuang scored the opener in the fifth minute for Dalian, but Shandong equalized through a Dalian own goal in the 27th minute. Veteran striker Ma Xiaoxu converted a penalty kick in the 71st minute to seal the victory for Dalian.

In other matches, Beijing beat Jiangsu 3-2 at home while Tianjin inflicted a 1-0 defeat on Chinese Army, who have suffered 10 defeats in a row this season. With four rounds to go, the Chinese Army team has little hope to avoid relegation.

The next round is scheduled for September 25. Endit
