The Second World Nomad Games kicked off in Kyrgyzstan's resort town of Cholpon-Ata on Saturday.

The opening ceremony of the Games is held at the new racetrack in Cholpon-Ata on Saturday night.

During the ceremony the audience saw a spectacular show mixed with performances of horsemen and traditional music.

After that, delegations from 62 countries and regions, including China, marched under their flags.

The parade of teams was concluded by the host country, led by President Almazbek Atambayev, who delivered a welcoming speech declaring the Second World Nomad Games open.

The President warmly welcomed the guests and participants of the event, noting that he is proud that Kyrgyzstan is hosting the second World Nomad Games.

"The main idea of the Nomad Games is strengthening relations of peoples and cultures. For us, the nomads, it is a holiday, a return to basics, an opportunity to show our children and to the world the richness of nomadic culture, and an opportunity for the audience to learn something new, to touch the primeval nature and ancient traditions," the President said in his speech.

The Second World Nomad Games, starting on Sept. 3 through to 8, will be attended by around 500 athletes in 26 sports. Endit
