Senior official urges better Party building at grassroots level

Xinhua, September 3, 2016 Adjust font size:

Senior leader of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Liu Yunshan stressed that local-level Party organizations must be improved during a visit to the northeastern province of Heilongjiang.

Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, inspected rural areas, communities, enterprises and farms on Friday and Saturday.

Local-level Party organizations are the foundation of the CPC's governance and are at the forefront of connecting with and serving the masses, Liu said, urging them to promote and uphold Party values and mechanisms.

As China's economic and social structures undergo profound changes, Party building at the local level must keep up with the times and utilize reform and innovation, Liu said.

He suggested that new ways of establishing Party organizations in non-public economic organizations and social organizations should be explored.

Liu also suggested using the Internet and other new tools in Party building.

In addition, Liu stressed integrating Party building with the revitalization of old industrial bases, implementing new development concepts, pushing forward supply-side structural reform and shaking off poverty. Endi
