Xinhua, September 1, 2016 Adjust font size:

Albania's net domestic production of electric energy saw an increase of 8.2 percent during the first half of 2016 causing Albania to reduce energy imports for this period, Albanian Institute of Statistics said on Thursday.

Data published by the institute showed that in the first six months of 2016, Albania's net energy production was 4,065 GWh from 3,758 GWh produced during the same period the previous year.

Energy production by the private hydro power plants and concessionaire power producers registered a growth of 35.9 percent in H1, helping increase net domestic production.

On the other hand, electricity production by public hydro power plants decreased by 1.2 percent.

Total network losses for this period went down by 11.2 percent compared to the same period of 2015. Enditem
