Peter Rabbit latest flick to be produced in Sydney, Australia

Xinhua, September 1, 2016 Adjust font size:

One of the world's most enduring children's tale Peter Rabbit will be brought to life in Australia's New South Wales in an international feature film starring Aussie actress Rose Byrne, the state government said on Thursday.

The Sydney-based Oscar-winning team behind Babe and Happy Feet, Animal Logic, will bring the beloved British tale, written and illustrated by Beatrix Potter, to the screen in an animated film.

U.S. producer Will Gluck, known for his role in Friends with Benefits, will direct the film, the NSW government said in a statement on Wednesday.

Byrne will work alongside British actor and comedian James Corden, who will take on the voice of the mischievous Peter Rabbit.

Peter Rabbit is one of the several productions, including Mel Gibson's Hacksaw Ridge, brought to NSW by the Made in NSW fund, an incentive to attract international film and high-end Australian television drama to the state.

The film's production is already under way at Sydney's Animal Logic Studio with live-action filming set to commence in January.

NSW Deputy Premier Troy Grant said the production will create jobs for 55 local actors and more than 600 crew. Enditem
