Belarus foreign debt up 6.8 pct from January to July

Belarus foreign debt totaled 13.3 billion U.S. dollars, up 847 million dollars or 6.8 percent since the beginning of the year, the country's Finance Ministry said on Wednesday.

In January-July, the Finance Ministry borrowed 1.303 billion dollars. The main creditors were Eurasian Stabilization and Development Fund (800 million), Russian government and banks (276.9 million). Chinese loans amounted to 179.5 million.

In 2016, Belarus has already spent 525.8 million dollars to repay its foreign debt.

The internal state debt amounted to 9.4 billion BYN (4.8 dollars) as of 1 Aug. 2016. Taking into account differences in currency exchange rates, the internal state debt decreased by 0.4 billion BYN (0.2 billion dollars) or 3.8 percent since the beginning of the year.

Belarus state debt increased 66.4 percent in 2015. At the same time, the foreign debt decreased by 1.1 percent. Endit
