Brazilian defender Douglas Santos bound for Bundesliga

Xinhua, August 31, 2016 Adjust font size:

Brazil's Atletico Mineiro have agreed to sell left-back Douglas Santos to Hamburg for 11 million US dollars, according to media reports on Tuesday.

Hamburg beat off competition for the 22-year-old's signature from their Bundesliga rivals Wolfsburg, the Uol news portal said.

The German club's scouts were impressed by Santos' performances for Brazil during this month's Olympic Games in Rio. The former Udinese player was particularly impressive in the final against Germany, which Brazil won on penalties at the Maracana stadium.

Santos has been capped once for Brazil's senior national team, having also represented his country at under-23 and under-20 level.

He has made 52 starts for Atletico since ending a fruitless spell with Udinese in 2014. Endit
