Brueni, Singapore vow to further enhance cooperation on environment

Brunei and Singapore will further enhance their cooperation on environment, an annual bilateral meeting said Tuesday.

According to a joint statement of the Tenth Meeting of Brunei-Singapore Cooperation on the Environment under the Annual Exchange of Visits(BSAEV), both sides reaffirmed the outstanding bilateral relations between Brunei and Singapore and reiterated their commitments to further enhancing the cooperation on environment.

The two delegations were led respectively by Haji Bahrin bin Abdullah, Brunei's Minister of Development and Masagos Zulkifli bin Masagos Mohamad, Singapore's Minister for the Environment and Water Resources.

The ministers endorsed the continued collaboration in waste management by both countries, in particular, the exchange of experiences in the area of recycling of E-Waste and food waste, and enforcement to curb littering.

The ministers welcomed the useful exchange of information, which includes air quality reporting systems particularly on PM10 and PM2.5 for haze monitoring in the region.

The ministers noted that Singapore and Brunei will further strengthen their exchanges in water resources management through knowledge sharing on development, implementation, operation and maintenance of water treatment plants and network systems, water demand management and water conservation, flood mitigation and used water management.

It is said that Singapore will host the 11th Brunei-Singapore Annual Exchange of Visits in 2017. Endit
