Singapore stocks close 0.99 pct lower

Singapore stocks finished lower on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 28.22 points, or 0.99 percent, to close at 2,829.43.

A total of 719.2 million shares changed hands with turnover of 733.8 million Singapore dollars (539.2 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 248 to 141, while 521 others finished unchanged.

The STI index lost 19.28 points, or 0.67 percent, to close at 2,857.65 on Aug. 26. Enditem
