According to poll results published in Saturday's edition of the United Daily News, 42 percent of respondents said they were satisfied with Tsai's performance in office, while 36 percent of respondents expressed their dissatisfaction.

The poll, which was conducted by telephone between Aug. 24 and 26, also showed that about 46 percent of respondents were dissatisfied with Tsai's handling of cross-Strait relations, with some 34 expressing approval.

A poll conducted by the China Times revealed on Saturday that only 41.4 percent of respondents expressed satisfaction with Tsai's performance, while 40.4 percent were dissatisfied.

Tsai's approval rate was down 11.1 points from a previous survey by the China Times conducted on May 20, when she took office.
