Schalke have loaned Nabil Bentaleb from Premier League outfit Tottenham Hotspur, the "Royal Blues" confirmed in an official statement on Thursday.
Schalke bolstered up their midfield as Nabil Bentaleb has put pen to paper on a season-long deal, which keeps him in Gelsenkirchen until June 2017. The new arrival received the jersey number 10.
"We are very pleased that Nabil Bentaleb has opted for us," Schalke's sporting director Christian Heidel said. "He is an aggressive and ball-winning midfielder who increases head coach Markus Weinzierl's options within the squad."
The 21-year-old midfielder plays since 2013 for Tottenham Hotspur's senior squad and made 46 competitive appearances. He is since 2014 part of Algeria's national team where he provided three goals in 19 caps.
"I am looking forward to the new challenge at Schalke," Bentaleb said. "Six weeks ago, I first heard about Schalke's interest and hoped ever since to make the transfer. I am vey happy and want to help the team to achieve the season goals."
