Macedonia launches advanced payment fund for flood-hit families

Xinhua, August 24, 2016 Adjust font size:

The Macedonian Finance Ministry has officially launched the advanced payment fund for flood-hit families in Skopje and Tetovo, official sources from the ministry said Tuesday.

According to Macedonian Finance Minister Kiril Minoski, over 2,000 people will receive a 500 euros (565 U.S. dollars) advance payment. He said that the payment will continue till all affected families get compensated for the damage caused by the floods that hit Macedonia on Aug.6.

The minister said that the compensation process will be based on the data sent to the Finance Ministry, and he called on people again on Monday afternoon to open their bank account so the process of advanced payment goes smoothly.

In the meantime, the commissions set up to evaluate the economic damage in the flood-hit zones have continued inspection and reported in order to get a full overview and analysis of the situation and give the total value of damage to be compensated. Endit
