Military court trial on Bangkok shrine blast put off until next month

Xinhua, August 23, 2016 Adjust font size:

The first hearing at a Thai military court over two suspects in last year's Bangkok shrine bombing was put off from Tuesday until Sept. 15.

The military court ordered for the postponement to Sept. 15 for the first hearing on the homicide charges filed against the suspects, who had allegedly bombed Erawan shrine and killed 20 people, 14 being tourists, and injured 120 others on Aug. 17, 2015.

The defendants who claimed to have been tortured to confess while being detained at an army prison denied all charges pertaining to the blast, viewed as the most violent in Thailand in decades.

The duo was taken to the military court on Tuesday, while 15 other suspects have remained at large. Endit
