Industrial stocks keep JSE higher on Monday

Xinhua, August 23, 2016 Adjust font size:

Industrial stocks led gains for the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) on Monday.

The JSE all share ended 0.11 percent higher, led by 0.77 percent gains in industrial shares.

The influential industrial gauge picked up 0.77 percent, leaving the R15-trillion all share index up just 0.11 percent to 52,828.93 points at the close of session.

The big losses were in the resources complex, with gold miners dropping 4 percent as a result of weaker commodity prices that were hurt by a strong dollar.

The South African rand was trading at R13.56 to the U.S. dollar, R17.77 to the British pound, and R15.36 to the euro at close of session. Endit
