Ordos int'l Naadam fair kicks off in N. China

An international Naadam fair featuring modern and traditional sports events kicked off on Monday in Ordos, a city of north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The six-day fair attracted more than 2,000 athletes, who will compete in a series of sports events including horse racing, archery, whrestling, dragon boat racing, beach soccer, cycle racing and others.

Local drama shows, a cultural heritage exhibit and an art exhibition will be organized during the fair, organizers said.

Naadam fair is a major holiday for ethnic Mongolians featuring Mongolian sports that dates back to the time of Genghis Khan (1162-1227). Endit
