The White House announced Thursday that U.S. President Barack Obama is to travel to China and Laos in early September, during which he will attend the G20 summit and conduct his first visit to Laos.

Obama's September 2-9 trip will "highlight the President's ongoing commitment to the G-20 as the premier forum for international economic cooperation as well as the U.S. Rebalance to Asia and the Pacific," the White House said in a statement. (US-China-G20)

LOS ANGELES -- Chinese leading real estate company Greenland announced on Thursday that it plans to invest more than 1 billion U.S. dollars in a joint venture to build a large-scale biotech industrial park in South San Francisco.

WELLINGTON -- New Zealand's tourism industry is having a boom time with overseas visitors spending a record 10.3 billion NZ dollars (7.47 billion U.S. dollars) in the year ending June, according to a government report out Friday.
