Over 6,600 businesses in Albania undergo tax inspection

Xinhua, August 18, 2016 Adjust font size:

Over 6,600 businesses across Albania have been subject to inspections carried out by the tax authorities which have started an operation to verify the issuing of vouchers, the vice director general of taxation of Albania Flobenc Dilaveri said Thursday.

The campaign was launched by Albanian Minister of Finance Arben Ahmetaj who declared that the main goal of such campaign is to make businesses and citizens aware of the importance of tax receipt issuance as well as further contribute to the formalization of economy.

According to the tax official, inspectors found different kinds of irregularities during their inspections, saying that about 12-15 percent of the subjects checked by inspectors had problems.

However, he explained that the inspectors have not imposed fines, as the aim of this operation was to sensitize business owners to use the cash register and issue vouchers, and not impose fines at this time.

The sales receipts sensitizing campaign will continue until the end of August. Tax authorities have focused more on the businesses operating in the coastal areas where abuses with prices and vouchers are more present during the tourist season. Enditem
