China Merchants Bank profits grow 6.8 pct in H1

China Merchants Bank (CMB), the country's leading private bank, saw its net profits rise 6.8 percent in the first half of the year, according to a statement released Thursday.

The bank's net profits reached 35.2 billion yuan (5.3 billion U.S. dollars) in the first six months of the year, it said in a statement.

Profit growth was slightly faster than the 6.6 percent jump logged in the first quarter.

Net revenues stood at 113.4 billion yuan in the January-June period, up 8.6 percent year on year.

CMB's non-performing loan ratio stood at 1.83 percent by the end of June, up 0.15 percent from the end of last year. Endi
