Vietnam central bank, AIIB representatives meet to discuss cooperation

Representatives of Vietnamese central bank and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has met to discuss cooperation in Vietnam's capital Hanoi.

Vietnam is completing its institution and creating favorable conditions to attract more investment in infrastructure sector, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) Dao Minh Tu told Christopher Legg, Director of constituency of Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Vietnam at AIIB, according to SBV website on Thursday.

Tu expressed his hope that Vietnam and the AIIB will soon select appropriate projects which has economic effectiveness while still securing the target of maintaining sustainable public debt.

Legg, for his part, said that based on investment demand and policies of Vietnam, he will urge the AIIB to study on providing financial support for Vietnam.

The AIIB, formally established in China's Beijing in December last year and started operation in January, is a multilateral financial institution with the aim of promoting investment in infrastructure projects in the Asia Pacific region. Endit
