Russia reported 8 ceasefire violations in Syria

Xinhua, August 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

Eight ceasefire violations were registered in the Syrian provinces of Damascus and Latakia in the past 24 hours, the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a daily bulletin posted on its website on Sunday.

"Within the last 24 hours, five ceasefire violations have been registered in Damascus and three in Latakia," the ministry said.

The ministry added that the Russian Aerospace Forces and the Syrian Air Force did not make strikes on opposition armed formations which follow the ceasefire regime and informed Russian and U.S. reconciliation centers about their location.

A ceasefire brokered by Russia and the United States came into force in Syria on Feb. 27. It was recognized by the Syrian government as well as dozens of opposition groups. Endi
