Ibarguen wins triple jump Olympic gold for Colombia

Xinhua, August 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

Caterine Ibarguen grabbed Colombia's second gold medal of the Rio Olympics by winning the women's triple jump on Sunday.

The 32-year-old twice cleared 15 meters, posting a best jump of 15.17 to beat Venezuela's Yulimar Rojas, whose best effort was 14.98m.

Kazakhstan's Olga Rypakova, the gold medallist at the London 2012 Games, took bronze with a best leap of 14.74m.

Ibarguen was the gold medal favorite after winning the past two World Championship titles. She also took silver in London four years ago. Endit
