China's Shi Tingmao claimed her second gold medal of the Rio Olympics by winning the women's 3m springboard event on Sunday.
The 24-year-old finished with 406.5 points to beat her compatriot He Zi by 18.15 points at the Maria Lenk Aquatics Centre. Italy's Tania Cagnotto took bronze with 372.80 points.
Shi and He were level after the first two dives before the former scored a competition-high 84 points in the third round. She didn't look back, comfortably securing China's eighth consecutive Olympic gold medal in the event.
Shi also took gold in the women's 3m synchronized springboard with Wu Minxia on August 7.
"Today I can finally relax," Shi said. "Actually, I will probably just go back to the Olympic Village and sleep all day long and then cheer for the other athletes from the Chinese team."
He has now won silver in the women's 3m springboard at the last two Olympics.
She revealed that she had accepted a marriage proposal from Chinese diver Qin Kai after the event.
"I didn't expect this at all," He said. "We worked really hard and put all of our efforts into this."
China has won four of the five diving gold medals decided so far at the Rio Games. Endit
