22 killed, 50 injured in wedding party bus accident in Pakistan

Xinhua, August 15, 2016 Adjust font size:

At least 22 people were killed and 50 others injured when a bus carrying wedding guests fell into ravine in Pakistan-controlled Kashmir on Sunday night, local media reported.

Urdu TV channel 92 News reported that the bus carrying over 70 wedding guests was on its way to Hajira district from Palandari district.

The area's deputy commissioner said the accident happened when the driver lost control over the over-speeded and over-loaded vehicle at the hilly terrain of Palandri, located some 107 km east of Pakistan's capital Islamabad.

He said the rescue teams are still trying to find more injured passengers or bodies in the ravine. But the rescue work is getting more difficult during night time.

Hospital sources said the death toll may rise as many of the injured were in critical condition. Endit
