The JSE closes higher, led with financial shares

The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) rallied on Friday, with financial shares leading gains.
The all-share index closed 0.93 percent higher at 52,806.50 points, while the top 40 index traded 1.10 percent stronger at 45703.18 points.
Besides the financial index, which closed 1.29 percent higher, the Industrial index gained 1.08 percent on the back of stronger European markets while the resources index was 0.43 percent stronger.
The gold mining shares slid 0.5 percent.
The rand was stronger against the major currencies, trading at R13.45 to the US dollar, R17.36 to the British pound and R15.03 to the euro at 5pm.
Among the stocks on JSE, Petrochemical giant Sasol was up about 1.77 percent at R384 .00 due to the improvement in oil prices.
Among the industrial stocks, British American Tobacco was up 1.49 percent to R864.72, with SABMiller adding 1.43 percent to R760.79 and Richemont adding up 3.12 percent to R83.19.
AngloGold Ashanti fell 1.91 percent to R293.75 and Sibanye gained 0.12 percent to R68.30.
Bucking the trend, Impala Platinum Holdings fell 3.35 percent to R67.32 by 5:00 pm local time. Endit
