Ajax sign striker Traore from Chelsea

Xinhua, August 12, 2016 Adjust font size:

Ajax have reached a loan deal with striker Bertrand Traore and his club Chelsea, the Dutch soccer club announced on Friday.

The 20-year-old Traore is the successor of Arek Milik who left for Napoli. Traore signed a loan deal for one season in Amsterdam.

The forward from Burkina Faso is not unfamiliar with the Dutch Eredivisie. From 2013 to 2015 he worked with current Ajax coach Peter Bosz.

Traore scored 16 goals for Vitesse in 42 league matches. For Chelsea he netted twice in 10 matches in the Premier League last season.

In Amsterdam Traore will compete with Kasper Dolberg and Mateo Cassiera for the first striker position. He can make his debut against FK Rostov next Tuesday in the play-offs for a place in the group phase of the Champions League. Enditem
