Dubai operator says biggest family leisure park in Mideast to open in autumn

Xinhua, August 11, 2016 Adjust font size:

Dubai Parks and Resorts said here Thursday that the Middle East's largest theme park destination will open its gates to the public on Oct. 31.

In a filing with the local stock exchange, Dubai Financial Market, on which its shares are traded, Dubai Parks and Resorts said guests will experience "nearly 100 rides and attractions across four parks."

The destination will be comprised of three theme parks -- Bollywood Parks Dubai, Motiongate Dubai, and Legoland Dubai, together with Legoland Water Park.

The resort is located in the southwest part of the sheikhdom of Dubai, adjacent to the border with Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) capital.

The 10.5 billion dirham (2.86 billion U.S. dollar) destination will also include Riverland Dubai, which offers retail and entertainment facilities. It will also host the Lapita Hotel, a Polynesian-themed family resort. The complete range of products and prices are yet to be announced.

"This has been long-time coming and I can't say enough about how excited we are to welcome our guests to the destination to have an amazing experience," said Dubai Parks and Resorts CEO Raed Kajoor Al-Nuaimi.

Dubai Parks and Resorts said the value of its shares has gained 62.62 percent since the start of the year, making it one of the best performing shares in the Gulf Arab region. Endit
