163,000 punished for discipline violations in H1

The Communist Party of China's (CPC) top discipline watchdog said Thursday that 163,000 people were punished for violating Party and political discipline in the first half of 2016.

Officials at various levels were punished, including 41 at provincial and ministerial levels, as well as 96,000 others from rural areas and enterprises, the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) said in a statement.

In 2015, 336,000 people across the country received punishment due to breach of Party and political discipline, with 14,000 suspected of criminal activity turned over to the judiciary, the CCDI said. Endi
