Singapore stocks close 0.17 pct higher

Singapore stocks finished higher on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 4.79 points, or 0.17 percent, to close at 2,875.57.

A total of 886.0 million shares changed hands with turnover of 1.23 billion Singapore dollars (917.0 million U.S. dollars).

Decliners outnumbered gainers 203 to 202, while 501 others finished unchanged.

The STI index gained 42.61 points, or 1.51 percent, to close at 2,870.78 on Monday. The bourse was closed on Tuesday for National Day holiday. Endit
