Tina Trstenjak of Slovenia and Khasan Khalmurzaev of Russia took gold medals of the judo competition at the Rio Olympic Games on Tuesday, winning the women's 63kg and men's 81kg events respectively.

World champion Trstenjak wasted little time on her way to victory, needing only one minute and 45 seconds in the final to beat Clarisse Agbegnenou of France, winning Slovenia's second successive Olympic gold in the women's 63kg. Urska Zolnir won at the London Games.

Yarden Gerbi from Israel and Anicka Van Emden from Netherlands secured bronze medals.

In the men's 81kg, Khalmurzaev was also quick to take the gold, throwing Travis Stevens from the United States for ippon with still two minutes, 18 seconds to go.
