China's Ning Zetao into semifinal of men's 100m freestyle

China's Ning Zetao made the semifinal of the men's 100m freestyle at the 2016 Rio Olympics here on Tuesday.

Ning clocked 48:57 to rank 14 in the heats, which was won by Kyle Chalmers of Australia in 47:90. Ning is satisfied with his result and hoped to try his best in the semifinal slated in the evening.

Another Chinese swimmer Yu Hexin failed to make the semifinals.

Zhang Yufei of China made the women's 200m butterfly semis, as Mireia Belmonte Garcia of Spain clocked the fastest in 2:06:64.

Hungary's Katinka Hosszu, who just grabbed two gold medals in the women's 100m backstroke and 400m individual medley, abandoned the heats to focus on the women's 200m individual medley final, bidding for her triple gold.

China's Mao Feilian and Li Xiang made the semifinal of the men's 200m breaststroke, timing in 2:09:80 and 2:10:17 respectively, while Anton Chupkov of Russia ranked first, clocking in 2:07:93.

Britain made the final of the men's 4x200m freestyle relay, followed by the United States and Russia. Endit
