Xinhua, August 10, 2016 Adjust font size:

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani on Tuesday called for an enhancement of ties with the United Kingdom, official IRNA news agency reported.

In a telephone conversation with the UK Prime Minister Theresa May, Rouhani congratulated her on taking the office and said Iran welcomes expansion of ties, including economic, banking and insurance sectors, with the United Kingdom.

The Iranian president emphasized the need for collective international action against terrorism.

He also urged for the implementation of Iran's nuclear deal, reached in July 2015, by the sides involved.

For her part, May reaffirmed commitment of the British government to the implementation of the nuclear deal.

She said the British government is encouraging the European and British banks to develop ties with the Islamic republic, according to IRNA. Endit
