Walsh Jennings/Ross on road for second win over Chinese pair

Kerri Walsh Jennings and April Ross made it two wins at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games when they beat the Chinese pair Wang Fan/Yue Yuan 21-16, 21-9 at the Copacabana Beach Arena on Monday.

Jenning, who is looking forward to her fourth Olympic title at Rio, never let the chance go after the teams tied at 8-8 in the opening set. With a 5-1 run, the USA pair claimed the first set with 21-16.

It was much easier for the USA team as they went to a 12-7 lead in the second set. Yue fought a point back but only saw the Americans rally to the final victory as they scored the nine of the following ten points in the set.

Walsh Jennings/Ross will play Isabel Forrer and Anouk Verge-Depre of the Switzerland on Wednesday while Wang/Yue to face Australian pair Mariafe Artacho del Solar and Nicole Laird. Endit
