Italy's Campriani wins men's 10m air rifle at Rio Olympics

Xinhua, August 9, 2016 Adjust font size:

Italian Niccolo Campriani claimed the men's 10m air rifle Olympic title with a final score of 206.1 points at the Rio Games on Monday.

Campriani, the silver medalist of the same event in London four years ago, went one better after he produced the best performance in the qualifying as well as the final at the Olympic Shooting Center.

The 28-year-old will be seeking to defend his title of the men's 50m rifle three positions.

Serhiy Kulish won the 10m air rifle silver with 204.6 points. Russian shooter Vladimir Maslennikov took home the bronze with 184.2 points.

Two big names failed to qualify for the finals. London 2012 champion Alin George Moldoveanu misfired badly in qualifying to miss out on the title defence, while World No.1 Cao Yifei of China finished ninth after dropping several places on his last shot. Endit
