France's trade gap widens to 3.4 bln euros in June

Sluggish exports, mainly of transport equipment and pharmaceutical products, drove France's trade deficit higher to 3.4 billion euros (3.77 billion U.S. dollars) in June compared to a month earlier, customs figures showed on Friday.
In a monthly report, French customs said French trade gap widened by 700 million euros over the period "after very large contracts of transport equipment and important shipments of pharmaceutical products in May, exports suffer no surprise backlash."
The country's total sales abroad stood at 36.9 billion euros, losing 1.8 percent while the value of imports totaled 40.3 billion euros, slightly down by 0.1 percent.
At the end of June, the aero group Airbus garnered 2.85 billion euros after selling 32 aircraft compared to 26 worth 2.37 billion euros a month earlier. (1 euro=1.11 U.S. dollars) Endit
