British FTSE 100 rises 1.59 pct on Thursday

FTSE 100 Index, British benchmark stock market gauge, Thursday rose by 1.59 percent, or 105.76 points, to 6,740.16 points.

Share price of Aviva increased by 6.70 percent, topped the gainers of the blue chips. Standard Chartered, Intu Properties, Paddy Power Betfair and BHP Billiton increased by 5.16 percent, 3.76 percent, 3.70 percent and 3.62 percent respectively.

Hikma Pharmaceuticals led the top losers of the blue chips with a share price drop of 16.79 percent, following by Randgold Resources (3.84 percent), Next (2.62 percent), Lloyds Banking Group (1.96 percent) and SABMiller (1.01 percent). Endit
