Italy's Schiavone overcomes tough battle to enter WTA Jiangxi Open quarters

Italy's Francesca Schiavone came from one set down to beat Chinese dark horse Lu Jiajing 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 to advance into the singles quarterfinals of the WTA 2016 Jiangxi Open on Wednesday.

Schiavone battled it out for victory in 2 hour and 25 minutes.

"Be positive that tomorrow I can do better. I come here and I express myself," Schiavone said.

Schiavone became first Italian female tennis player to win a Grand Slam title when she won the 2010 French Open.

Also on Wednesday, China's Zhang Kailin beat Japanese Kato Miyu 6-4, 7-5. Another Japanese Nara Kurumi beat Croatian Mrdeza Tereza 6-3, 7-5. Endit
