Germany to spend 270 billion euros on transport infrastructure

Germany plans to spend nearly 270 billion euros (about 302.7 billion U.S. dollars) on maintaining and upgrading its transport infrastructure by 2030, said the German Transport Ministry on Wednesday.

Approximately 1,000 projects with a total value of 269.6 billion euros will be carried out in the next 14 years, according to the plan approved by Chancellor Angela Merkel's cabinet on Wednesday.

Of this, 132.8 billion euros will be invested in federal highways, 112.3 billion euros in railways, and 24.5 billion euros in waterways.

"We will modernize our infrastructure and accelerate the mobility in Germany," said German Transport Minister Alexander Dobrindt, calling the plan "the strongest infrastructure program ever". Endit
