Vessel installation at Belarusian nuclear power plant suspended

Xinhua, August 2, 2016 Adjust font size:

The vessel installation at the first reactor of a new Belarusian nuclear power plant has been suspended after a contingency at the construction site, said a senior official.

It's not decided whether the current vessel will be used or replaced, said Deputy Energy Minister Mikhail Mikhadyuk on Monday.

A decision will be taken only after a detailed analysis of the consequences of the emergency situation at the site, he told local reporters.

Earlier, rumors had it that during a trial installation on July 10, the 334-ton reactor vessel fell to the ground from a height of two to four meters.

The Belarusian nuclear power plant is being built in Ostrovets District of the Grodno region. Endi
